More than 52,000 Montgomery County residential and commercial property owners will see a drastic change in their insurance premiums after the Insurance Service Office reevaluated and lowered Montgomery County’s Protection Class rate.

County Mayor Carolyn Bowers announced Wednesday that Montgomery County’s Insurance Service Office (ISO) rating has changed from a Protection Class 9 rating to a Protection Class 6 rating following a lengthy multi-year evaluation.

The decreased rating is a positive change for those who live in the county within a five-mile radius of one of Montgomery County’s volunteer fire stations.

Approximately 52,434 property owners are expected to have lower insurance premiums, some averaging 34.7 percent in savings. Big industries that occupy the Industrial Park are included in these major reductions, which will vary by insurance agencies.
